Russell VanDegrift is a Senior Adviser with MK Technology, providing strategic export control solutions for clients looking to establish or improve a control program, or help with specific transactions and training. He provides guidance on the International Traffic in Arms regulations, the Export Administration Regulations and other related control regimes, bringing significant industry experience to export related issues.

Prior to joining MK Technology, Russ VanDegrift worked with the Raytheon Company in several enterprise-level leadership positions. He helped establish control programs across the company, including in-depth audits and analyses; training programs and delivering training to a wide variety of audiences; and advising the various businesses as to risk and appropriate mitigation. He also co-led a complete organizational re-design of the Export/Import Operations function of the company. This re-design included the creation of new leadership roles, the establishment of new policies and standards of practice, and involvement of the Raytheon international affiliates in the program. He also was designated a "Six Sigma Specialist" by Raytheon for process improvement expertise.

Prior to his work with Raytheon, Russ VanDegrift spent five years with TRW, the last three as the Export/Import Compliance Manager for the Space and Electronics business. During this time, he led the business through the regulatory transition of commercial communication satellites shifted from the Department of Commerce to the Department of State. He also assisted the Inspector General's office of NASA during an in depth agency review of export control issues. Before his work with Space and Electronics, he was a Contracts and Export Compliance manager for a TRW subsidiary known as TRW Components International, a small (80-person operation) independent from the parent company.

Russ VanDegrift established himself in the aerospace and defense industry with over ten years at Northrop Grumman prior to TRW. He worked in various capacities, including as a contract administrator, a deputy business manager, a "total quality" facilitator and an export control focal point. At Northrop, Mr. VanDegrift established the export compliance and control program for the Joint Strike Fighter Program, which presented complex issues such as resident foreign nationals and high volumes of technical data exchanges.

He has spoken at National Defense Industry Association and American Association of Exporters and Importers conferences, at the well-known Global Trade Controls conference in London and at numerous other industry seminars. He also participated on the Mergers, Acquisitions and Divestitures task force for the Society for International Affairs.

Russ VanDegrift obtained a Master of Business Administration from Pepperdine University in 1994. He earned his Bachelor's degree at California State University, Northridge in Radio, Television and Film in 1981, including a final project in which he directed a documentary on the then revolutionary treatments of breast cancer. He also has professional certifications in Contract Management and Total Quality Management.
