Dr. Hans-Michael Wolffgang is a Senior Adviser and Consultant to MK Technology and is a Professor of international Trade and Tax Law of the University of Muenster in Germany, where he specializes in Constitutional and European Law. He also is a co-founder and co-shareholder of the AWB tax and international-trade consultancy based in Muenster and is a co-shareholder of the affiliated AWA international-trade training institute.
A former Judge in the Fiscal Court of Westphalia, and a former Fiscal Adviser to Germany's Federal Fiscal Supreme Court, Dr. Wolffgang is a Member of the Board of the University's Centre of International Trade Law. He also is the Editor-in-Chief of AW Prax, a leading German-language journal of External Trade and Customs Law.
Dr. Wolffgang has written extensively on export controls in Europe and on multilateral dual-use trade controls under the Wassenaar Arrangement. In addition to his academic work, he has been the leader of expert teams providing technical assistance to governments in Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Palestine, Serbia and elsewhere on customs excise and other international-trade issues.
As a co-founder and co-shareholder (with Matthias Merz) of the AWB consultancy, Dr. Wolffgang is an active adviser to German and international enterprises in the fields of export and trade controls, international customs and other aspects of trade law and practice. He also is a co-shareholder (with Matthias Merz) of the AWA Foreign Trade Academy, a leading international trade training institute also based in Muenster. Related AWA organizations are based in Austria, Hungary and Switzerland.
