Martin Kalin, Founder of MK Technology, Paul Freedenberg, MKT’s Chairman, and Frank Record, its Executive Partner, proudly announce the appointment of Douglas N. Jacobson to the position of Senior Adviser & Counsel to MK Technology.
Doug, who is based in Washington, DC, has 20 years of experience representing a wide range of U.S. and non-U.S. companies on export control issues and serves as principal outside international trade counsel to a number of U.S. and non U.S.-based multinational companies, including those that produce electronic, industrial, medical, consumer and aerospace products. Prior to forming his own law firm, the Law Offices of Douglas N. Jacobson, PLLC, Doug was a partner in several well-known DC law firms.
With respect to export control matters, Doug regularly counsels clients on compliance with U.S. and multilateral regimes governing the export of dual-use items, software, technology, defense articles and humanitarian products. He assists companies in understanding and navigating the complex rules set forth in the U.S. Export Administration Regulations, the International Traffic in Arms Regulations and the various sanctions regulations administered by the Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC). Doug regularly represents companies in enforcement proceedings conducted by the Commerce Department’s Bureau of Industry and Security and the Office of Antiboycott Compliance, the State Department’s Directorate of Defense Trade Controls and OFAC.
Since 2003, Doug has edited and published International Trade Law News, a widely read blog containing news and information on export controls, customs, antidumping, FCPA and other international trade-related issues. He has written numerous articles on export controls and sanctions programs, and is a frequent speaker on export compliance and FCPA matters, including programs sponsored by the U.S. Commercial Service and the American Association of Exporter and Importers.
